"Baby's Gang" was an Italian Italo-Disco and Synth-Pop music group active in the 80s. The greatest success of this musical project was the single "Happy Song" in 1983. The initial idea was to create something original and unpublished until then. It all started in the first months of 1983, when Stefano Cundari and his partner Alessandro Zanni went to a cultural association called "Campagna & Città", to look for girls to sing in this musical project. The "Campagna & Città" group was made up of around 40 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 20 plus the mixer and lighting technicians. In this group, the children paid a monthly fee for the expenses of the music teacher and the theater where the rehearsals were held in the municipality of Parma. The concerts were held in Italy for events, cultural exchanges and charities. The group sang famous songs by Italian composers such as Renato Zero, Francesco De Gregori, i Nomadi and Fabrizio De Andrè. The master responsible for all this was the musician and Maestro Egidio Tibaldi. Stefano Cundari and Alessandro Zanni made a selection of 13 girls of different ages. The chosen ones were summoned to a recording studio entrusted to Ivana Spagna, who took care of teaching, musically advising and instructing all of them before recording a musical theme where she herself had composed part of the lyrics with Ottavio Bacciocchi and Larry Pignagnoli (Brando). The first rehearsals were done at the home of Alfredo "Larry" Pignagnoli (Brando) and after a few days the studio recordings began. The song was called "Happy Song" and was sung by Aldo Musci (born June 15, 1959) with vocal support from Ivana Spagna. “Baby's Gang” grouped 13 students (Caterina, Cristina, Debora Bonfanti, Denise Bonfanti, Federica, Ilaria, Laura B., Laura M., Lisa, Maria Grazia Arbelti, Mary, Patrizia, Sara, Vittoriana), including Denise Bonfanti, a singer who became famous a few years later. Aldo Musci and Denise Bonfanti appeared as the main protagonists on the album cover as their voices stood out in the musical theme. The song was composed by Ottavio Bacciocchi, Alfredo “Larry” Pignagnoli and Ivana Spagna. Wilson Di Sesto (electronic drums/percussion) and Giorgio "Theo" Spagna (Ivana's brother) also participated in the project. The single was produced and distributed by the famous "Memory Records" label of Alessandro Zanni and Stefano Cundari. In 1984, the very famous German group "Boney M" purchased the license to "Happy Song" to make their version. In 1985 the album "Challenger" was released and some hitherto unknown singles from "Baby's Gang" came to light. The album contained a remix of "Happy Song", "Challenger" (their second hit single) and "America". All the songs on the album were composed by Ivana Spagna and Alfredo “Larry” Pignagnoli. Aldo Musci died on June 27, 2023, a few days after turning 64.Discography:Album1985 - ChallengerSingles1983 - Happy Song1984 - Challenger
