Yvonne Elliman Marianne was born in Honolulu (Hawaii) on December 29, 1951. Born to an Irish father and a Japanese mother, Yvonne grew up in the Manoa neighborhood of Honolulu. At four he learned to play the ukelele and at seven he began taking piano lessons. She attended "President Theodore Roosevelt High School" in Honolulu and around that time, she formed his first folk music band "We Folk" with his schoolmates. Yvonne performed as a singer and guitarist achieving good results in local talent shows. At 18 he moved to London and began performing in bars and clubs. She was noticed and discovered by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who asked her to sing "Mary Magdalene" for the original audio recording of "Jesus Christ Superstar". After the album was released in 1970, they invited and convinced Yvonne to move to New York and join the cast of the play on a four-year contract. After this long experience, Yvonne signed a record deal with “RSO Records” and participated in various tours alongside Eric Clapton. The turning point in 1977 when the "Bee Gees" were working on the soundtrack of "Saturday Night Fever" and wrote the song "How Deep Is Your Love" for her. Robert Stigwood (owner of RSO Records) opposed the idea and decided to have the song interpreted by the "Bee Gees". Yvonne Elliman was awarded the song "If I Can't Have You" written by the "Bee Gees". The song reached No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a global hit. “If I Can't Have You” is considered the high point of Yvonne Elliman's recording career.
