“The Style Council” were an English musical group founded in 1982 in Woking. The band consisted of singer, songwriter and guitarist Paul Weller and keyboardist Mick Talbot. The first three singles released, “Speak Like a Child“(nr.4), “Long Hot Summer”(nr.11) and "Money-Go-Round"(nr.3) entered the English Top 20 and were included in the Mini-Album “Introducing The Style Council” (1983). In February 1984 the single "My Ever Changing Moods" became their fourth Top 20 hit in the UK Singles Chart, reaching number five. The debut album “Café Bleu” (1984), reached number two in the “UK Albums Chart”. In the UK, the group reached the peak of their popularity in 1985 with the release of “Our Favorite Shop”, reaching number one in the UK Albums Chart. In 1986, “The Style Council” released the live album “Home and Abroad” and singer Dee C. Lee (Paul Webber's future wife) and drummer Steve White joined the band. In 1989, after releasing the hit cover “Promised Land” (originally by Joe Smooth) “The Style Council” disbanded.
