"Scotch" were an Italian Italo-Disco group. The band was founded by David Zambelli and Walter Verdi, producers from Bergamo who in 1983 enjoyed considerable success with the single "Penguin Invasion", an instrumental song composed and produced by Manlio Cangelli. Following the song's achievement of fame, a second version was recorded - this time sung - for which Vince Lancini's voice was chosen. In 1984, keyboardist Fabio Margutti joined the group and, in the same year, the single "Disco Band" was released which received numerous acclaim in Italy and Germany. After the success of "Take Me Up" (1985) and that of "Mirage" (1986), keyboardist Franz Rome joined the group. In 2004 the Italian dance group Paps'n'Skar remixed the song "Mirage" which soon became a hit and was used during that same summer by the telephone company TIM as background music for its advertising spot. In 2007 the German group Scooter decided to sample the aforementioned single "Disco Band".
