Riccardo Cioni was born in Livorno on
14 October 1954. At just 13 years old he began playing bass in a musical group.
His extraordinary career as a DJ began in the "La Polena" nightclub
in Tirrenia, a place he started frequenting when he was 18 years old. The
turning point in his career as a disc jockey occurred in the "Green
Ship" disco in Nave di Lucca. Riccardo worked in the club from the mid-70s
until 1981, becoming a true "star of the console" with the nickname
"DJ Full Time". In 1975, in collaboration with "AID (Italian DJ
Academy)", Riccardo opened the first Italian school for deejays. In 1980
he worked for the radio station "Radio Quattro" in Castelfranco di
Sotto (Pisa). Artist and true showman, Riccardo Cioni is famous not only for
his activity as a disc jockey, but also for having established himself in the
music charts of the 80s. His greatest recording success came in 1982 with the
song “In America”. Other songs followed: Choo-Choo train (1983), Darkness
Inside (1984), Ole'-Oh (1984) and Arizona (1985). Riccardo Cioni will remain an
idol of the console for over 30 years. In December 2020, Riccardo was
hospitalized in Livorno for Covid19. After being discharged and after thanking
the doctors and volunteers who had taken care of him with a post on Facebook,
there was a further deterioration due to pathologies not attributable to the
virus. Riccardo Cioni died in Livorno on 7 January 2021.
