Paul Parker is an American singer of
dance music and Hi-NRG born in San Francisco (California) in July 1952. After
attending the "California State University" in Long Beach, he began
singing in some clubs in San Francisco with a band composed by 5 musicians.
Paul was the lead singer of the band and occasionally played guitar. Live shows
sometimes lasted three hours and the band performed famous songs by The
Beatles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Eagles, Grateful Dead and The Stones.
In the autumn of 1979 there was the meeting with Patrick Cowley thanks to a
mutual friend. Cowley was very impressed with Parker's vocal style and invited
him to his studio to record some demos. Thanks to this collaboration with the
dance music pioneer Hi-NRG, there was a turning point in Paul Parker's musical
career. In addition to becoming Patrick Cowley's official lead singer, in late
July 1982 Paul reached #1 on Billboard's Dance/Disco chart with the single
"Right On Target." On November 12, 1982 there was the tragic death of
Patrick Cowley and for Paul it was a real blow to the heart. In 1983 the album
"Too Much To Dream" was released, produced and arranged by the now
deceased Patrick Cowley, which included the second hit single "Shot In The
Night". In 1984 he released the single "Desire" and in 1985 two
more songs: "Without Your Love" and "Don't Play With Fire".
In 1986 he performed his own version of Cyndi Lauper's worldwide hit "Time
After Time". Paul continued his activity in the 90s with a series of new
dance covers and in 1995 he released his second album entitled
"Destiny". In 2007, he began a collaboration with the record label
"UTMOSIS" from San Francisco. In 2009, 26 years after the release of
"Too Much To Dream", Paul released his third album entitled
"Take It From Me". In 2013 he released a 5-track EP titled
"Superman with Harlem Nights", in the classic Patrick Cowley style.
