The American musical group "Industry" was founded in 1978 on Long
Island by drummer Mercury Caronia, singer Sean Kelly and composer and guitarist
Andrew Geyer. Initially, the new wave music band was called "Industrial
Complex", but in 1979 it changed its name to "Industry". In
1981, Andrew Geyer and Sean Kelly left the group and were replaced by guitarist
Brian Madden Unger and lead singer Jon Carin, respectively. Bassist Rudy
Perrone also joined them.
In 1983, the band released their debut single “State of the Nation,” which
was included on their first and only album “Stranger to Stranger.” The song
achieved great success in Europe, reaching first place in the Hit Parade in
Italy. That same year, "Industry" earned a place as a support group
for artists such as Billy Idol, Talk Talk and INXS. However, in 1984 the group
disbanded.
