Eighth
Wonder, formed in London in 1983, initially emerged as a musical project led by
singer and actress Patsy Kensit and her brother Jamie. After an initial phase
searching for their musical identity, the band achieved significant success in
Japan and Italy between 1985 and 1987, thanks to catchy pop sounds and Patsy
Kensit's iconic image. Their breakthrough in the United Kingdom and Europe came
in 1988 with the single "I'm Not Scared", written and co-produced by
the Pet Shop Boys, which topped the charts in numerous countries. The
subsequent album, "Fearless", enjoyed good commercial success, but
later singles failed to replicate their previous achievement. Towards the end
of the 1980s, the band dissolved, and Patsy Kensit embarked on an acting
career, leaving an indelible mark on the pop culture of the era.
