Captain Sensible, pseudonym of Raymond Burns, was born in Balham (London) on 24 April 1954. He attended the "Stanley Technical School for Boys" in South Norwood, Croydon. The first musical instrument he played was a Bontempi organ. Originally a member of the band "Johnny Moped", in 1976 Captain Sensible joined the musical group "Damned" at the suggestion of colleague Rat Scabies (drummer of the band). In the band "Damned", Captain Sensible covered the role of bassist, lead guitarist and keyboardist. After Brian James' departure, he became the band's primary songwriter. Captain Sensible left the punk-rock band "Damned" in the early 80's to focus on solo projects. In 1982 she debuted with the album "Women And Captains First" released by "A&M Records". The singles "Wot" and "Happy Talk" reached the top positions in the European charts and in the United States. The single "Wot" was produced by Tony Mansfield and in the recording room, Captain Sensible had support from the group "Dolly Mixture". On that occasion he met Rachel Bor, a member of the "Dolly Mixture", who will become his wife and who will give birth to three children. In the UK, the single "Wot" charted for seven weeks and in the US it peaked at #24 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club. In France, the song sold 800,000 copies and was awarded the gold disc by the "Syndicat National de l'Edition Phonographique". In Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, "Wot" reached the third position in the charts. After releasing seven solo albums, in September 2006 he formed a new British political party called “Blah! party”.
