Bruce Randall Hornsby is an American keyboardist, multi-instrumentalist and singer born in Williamsburg (Virginia) on November 23, 1954. After studying in Boston, in 1980 he moved to Los Angeles to work for "20th Century Fox" as a soundtrack composer. On April 1, 1986, thanks to the production of Huey Lewis, the debut album "The Way It Is" was released. The single of the same name, released on August 25, 1986, was a worldwide success that climbed all the European charts. The album achieved great success and won a Grammy Award in 1987 for "Best New Artist". In 1988 the second album "Scenes From The Southside" was released and in 1990 the third and last solo album "A Night on the Town". In 1990 he won another Grammy (best bluegrass album) thanks to "The Valley Road", an album made with the "Nitty Gritty Dirt Band". Throughout his career Hornsby has collaborated with Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Elton John and other artists.
