“Belle Epoque” was a female musical group based in Paris (France). The band "Belle Epoque" consisted of the vocalist Evelyne Lenton (real name Évelyne Verrecchia), born on December 16, 1945, joined by two other backing singers. Evelyne Lenton is a French singer who began her musical career in the early 60s performing under the name "Evy". From 1963, Evelyne published on the French record label "Barclay", some single discs, some of which sung in Italian and Spanish as well as those in her mother tongue. In 1966 he moved to Rome and three years later he went to London. In 1976, Evelyne returned to Rome to join her producer brother Albert Weyman (Albert Verrecchia), who proposed that she create the band "Belle Epoque" and record a classic 60s rock-pop song in a disco version. Two backup singers were added: Jusy Fortes, originally from Cape Verde and the American Marzia Thear. The group immediately achieved great European success thanks to the disco version of the song "Black Is Black". The original single dated back to 1966 and was sung by the Spanish group "Los Bravos". "Black Is Black" from "Belle Epoque" reached No. 2 in the UK and Germany, No. 1 in Australia and entered the Top 10 in almost all European countries. In the United States, in that same year, the band achieved a huge success with the single "Miss Broadway" reaching number eight on the "Billboard Hot 100". “Miss Broadway” was written by Evelyne Lenton and her brother Albert Weyman. In 1982, Evelyne Lenton resumed her solo career and released two albums. In 1992, an album entitled "Evelyne Lenton et Belle Epoque" was released. The group reformed in 2006 on the occasion of their 30th Anniversary.
