“Amii Stewart”, pseudonym of Amy Paulette Stewart, is an American singer born in Washington on January 29, 1956. She began her career taking dance lessons when she was nine. He studied acting and singing in Washington under the guidance of Mike Malone, Lewis Johnson, Debbie Allen, Charles Augins, Robert Hooks and Bernice Regan. After graduation he joined a Miami theater company and in 1975 he moved to New York. After various experiences as a theater actress, choreographer and assistant director, in 1977 she began her recording career with the single "You Really Touched my Heart". In 1979 she became famous with the single "Knock On Wood" (cover of a sixties song by Eddie Floyd and Steve Cropper), a song that climbed all the world charts, selling 8 million records. This resounding success earned Amii Stewart a Grammy Award nomination. Amii was also appreciated for his album cover of "The Doors" "Light My Fire" and for the song "Paradise Bird". In 1983, Amii Stewart did not renew his contract with producer Barry Lang, he moved to Italy and signed with the “RCA Italiana”. In that same year he took part in the Sanremo Festival with the song "Working Late Tonight". In 1984 he returned to the top of the world charts with Mike Francis'song "Friends". The collaboration with Mike Francis will continue in 1985 with "Together" and in 1988 with the album "Time For Fantasy". She is credited as one of the leading exponents of the "easy listening" genre and duetted with established artists of the caliber of Eros Ramazzotti and Gianni Morandi, with whom she recorded the famous song "Grazie perché". In 1993 she was one of 12 artists chosen to sing at the first Vatican Christmas Concert. With her were also Randy Crawford and Lucio Dalla. She was the only one who was also requested for the reply the following year. Amii Stewart is also romantically linked to Italy. On 27 July 1994 she married the entrepreneur Pietro Cappa but they never had children. In 2013 he collaborated with DJ Gabry Ponte on the single "Sunshine Girl", and the same year he took part in Gianni Morandi's "Live in Arena" event.
