Ago: A Life of Music, Innovation, and Passion
Ago, born Agostino Presta, is a multifaceted artist who has reinvented himself throughout an eclectic career, ranging from DJ to singer and songwriter. Originally from Prato, Italy, Ago began taking his first steps in the world of music at a very young age.
In the 1970s, his roots were in rock, but his talent soon led him to collaborate as a sound engineer with some of the biggest names on the Italian music scene, including Ivano Fossati, Pooh, Delirium, New Trolls, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, and Mia Martini.
The "on the road" experience proved fundamental to his artistic growth, and in 1981 Ago conquered the general public with the Italo-Funky single "You Make Me Do It", released on the Full Time Records label. The following year, his debut album "For You" earned him the prestigious Gold Record as the best dance track, establishing him as a prominent figure in the music scene. Other successful vinyl releases followed, including "Electric Cucaracha" (1984), "Chinese Eyes" (1985), "Computer (In My Mind)" (1986), "I Want You" (1986), and "It's All Right" (1988).
After performing in nightclubs all over Europe in the 1980s, Ago returned to his roots in 1990 with the rock album "Incivile Civiltà", a singer-songwriter work in Italian that boasts exceptional collaborations such as Maurizio Solieri, Gianni Bella, and Lele Melotti.
In 2002, Ago surprised once again with "Isole", a song produced by Gianni Bella that features Narciso Parigi, an icon of Florentine song from the 1950s. The result is an original mix of electronic trip hop and melodies typical of the Italian tradition.
His versatility led him in 2005 to represent Italy at the International Music Festival in Kazakhstan, where he triumphed with the song "Piano Griderò" by Gianni Bella, winning the awards for "best television performance", "press critics", and "audience critics".
The growing success led him to California, where between 2013 and 2019 he undertook three long tours in Orange County, consolidating his following overseas as well.
In 2013, Ago celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of his first record success with a remake of the song "For You", offering it in a renewed and contemporary form. A year later, in 2014, he released a vinyl mini-album entitled "The Power of Disco", containing three unreleased tracks that pay homage to his passion for disco music.
Even today, Ago continues to perform as a DJ, offering unique performances that combine experience and innovation.
In 2020, he released the single "The Night" in collaboration with Joe Mangione on the independent label K-Nois.
October 29, 2021 marked the worldwide digital release of "She Told Me", a duet with Tony Di Bart, a famous English singer from the 1990s. The song is taken from "Opera Fourty", Ago's celebratory album released in November 2021 in digital and colored vinyl limited editions, distributed by Joevinyle Store and Self Distribuzione.
Currently, Ago is part of the ZYX MUSIC artist roster in Frankfurt (Germany), which also wanted to print the CD of "Opera Fourty", confirming his role as a constantly evolving artist.
